Every day is not going to be perfect or turn out the way you expect. You will have good days, bad days and everything in between. Your day may start off wonderful, but end in the opposite. This was me.
I woke up feeling great. Went to the gym, got a good workout, came home and got ready for my day. I headed to the first class of my day with a smile. So far my day was heading in the right direction as I held a positive outlook on the remainder, but somewhere a long the line things changed.
I began to feel out of sorts, thoughts and emotions racing through my mind. This left me feeling anxious, confused, and wondering, “What went wrong?”.
I sat half my day trying to answer this question, I finally realized maybe there is no answer to the question. Maybe nothing went wrong in my day. Maybe I was just having those feelings and thoughts, and there was no reason or trigger behind them.
I have always been a person to search for the reason why something occurs and when things do go wrong I try to find a way to fix it.
Though, sometimes there is no reason why and there is nothing to fix. Sometimes you have to sit and accept all you are feeling and thinking for what they are in that moment. That is it. Just acceptance. Don’t try to analyze it, don’t try to fix it. Acknowledge how you are feeling and what you are thinking, but leave it at that. Those feelings and thoughts do not have to be the determinants in the outcome of your day.
This is much easier said than done, but it is an important skill. To be able to accept your thoughts and feelings, and not let them have control on the outcome of your day is key to living a successful life
I challenge you to try this the next time you are caught up in thoughts and emotions. Take time to sit with those thoughts and emotions and let them be finding acceptance within them, then move on with your day.
