So it has been a while since I have written. I could name every excuse under the sun for why I have not written a post, but in all reality there is none.
This got me thinking on how easy it is to get caught up in the fast paced world. Jumping from one thing to next. For me as a student it is tackling one assignment after the next on top of studying for exam after exam. One thing after the next, boom boom boom.
I eventually find my self wondering, how did I get here?
Have you ever started to read a book and the next thing you know you are five pages in but have no idea what you just read? Well, that is very similar to how my life sometimes is.
I get so caught up in the busyness of life. Worrying only of what is next and not what is here now. Everything in life zips right by. Then, all of a sudden I’m stuck pondering how I got where I am in the first place.
Were alive, but were not living. Essentially, we are on auto pilot.
As humans we are creatures of habit. Each day we have our routine. Our lives become fixated on these daily tasks. Life becomes monotonous. We become distracted, only partially aware of our every day life. We blind ourselves, chronically missing important moments and experiences as each day passes by.
We need to disconnect and appreciate the world around us.
Step out of the fast paced society and appreciate the small moments, but still picturing the big future ahead. Slow down and take a breath. We need to be mindful.
Mindfulness encourages us to be present in the moment and more willingly savoring the good in each day. With mindfulness we can bring our minds to the present with kindness. We can take a leap out of our repetitive lifestyle and engage in the incredible experiences and moments life has to offer each and every day.
Get off autopilot and start living your life!
