Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July! My apologies for being M.I.A for awhile. I was able to sneak some time away from school and spend some much needed quality time with the family! Though, I have also been going through an unpleasant time in life causing me to take a swan dive out of my comfort zone. (Yes, you read that correct; “swan dive” because it was a whole lot more than a step.)
Imagine this; you are standing in room, the only way out is through one single door. There’s a catch, though. You have no idea what is on the other side of the door or what room it will enter you in.
Do you stay in the room in which you are familiar, or do you take a leap of faith and open the door?
This seems as if it would be a simple question, but it is everything except simple.
Choosing to walk through the door requires a tremendous amount of courage. For we have no idea where the door will lead us. When we decide to open the door we are taking a step out of our comfort zone, leaving the room which was so familiar. It was safe.
The room may have provided us a sense of security, though this does not mean the room was where we were meant to be. Leaving a place of security is intimidating. We feel insecure and out of control, emotions we most often try to avoid in life.
But, when we work up that courage to open the door, what is on the other side can be truly amazing.
There is so much more to life than the four walls we surround ourselves in. Life is a series a mysterious doors. We as humans want to stay where is comfortable and safe, even if it is not providing us the happiness we seek in life. But, when we find our courage and become brave, opening the next door becomes a great honor and we begin to realize the marvelous gifts which life has to offer us.
I guarantee it won’t be easy at first. It will feel terrifying and you will feel your stomach plummeting inside you. But, I encourage you to dig deep, grasp ahold of that courage and take an enormous leap of faith. You never know what beautiful sight will be on the other side of that door.
With that, I’ll leave you with this quote from the Wizard of Oz (one of my favorite movies)!
If you had to take a step out of your comfort zone recently, I’d love to hear your story and what beautiful sights you found on the other side!
