In my last post, Self Care: Not Just Another Item on the To-Do List, I discussed the importance of self care and how easy it can be to fall astray. We all know self-care is important and something we need in our daily routine.
Now you may be asking, what are some self care activities I can incorporate into my daily routine?
So I thought, why not share some of my favorite self care activities and such which I try to integrate into my daily schedule. Since it is the beginning of the fall season, I figured I would share some of my fall self care favorites!
Hot Apple Cider
There is nothing more relaxing than sipping on a steaming hot cup of apple cider on a chilly fall evening. I love ending my day, enjoying a hot cup cider while reflecting and soaking in my day. There’s just something about letting the warmth and aromas soothe my soul after a long day!
Books & Blankets
One of my favorite activities to do is snuggle up and get lost in a good book. Being cuddled in giant cozy blankets gives me comfort and security. Getting lost in a book is a great way to take a brief escape from reality, forgetting about all your responsibilities. My go to author currently is Debbie Macomber. If you’re looking for a down to earth, honest author about the ups and downs of life her stories are just for you!
I know you were probably expecting a recipe here, but wouldn’t you rather smell like a pumpkin cupcake instead! Taking long hot baths, and applying fantastically smelling lotions, is about the closest thing I am getting to a day at the spa! Rinsing off the day, feeling fresh and smelling delicious can be a great confidence booster, leaving you feeling fresh and new! One of my favorite fall body washes and lotions is Pumpkin Cupcake by Bath & Body Works!
Okay, now here is the recipe you were looking for. Baking is a great way for me to clear my mind and decompress. It’s time where I can enjoy the moment, escape and create something wonderfully delicious. Fall is one of my favorite baking seasons. Behind Christmas cookies that is. Anything from oatmeal cookies to pumpkin pie, I can always find something to bake, healing my mind and soul.
This one is not just a fall favorite, but an all year round favorite of mine. Taking the time each night to write down thoughts, feelings or anything my heart desires is a great way for me recognize and reflect on everything running through my mind. It serves as an outlet for me, preventing an inner build up of emotions and thoughts. Being able to snuggle up in a blanket, light a relaxing candle and write has been one of the best self care activities I have found for myself!
These are just a few of my favorite fall self care goodies! I recommend giving one or two of them a try. Taking the time each day to recognize yourself, even if its the smallest of tasks can make the world of a difference.
These things helped me escape away from the stress of school and life, finding a sense of inner peace again! Reminding me how important it truly is to take care of your mind, body and soul!
