How Mornings Healed my Mind, Body & Soul

To wrap up September, I wanted to conclude with one last self-care tip. Probably my favorite one of all! In a previous post, Fall in Love with Mornings I discussed how anyone can find the same love that I have for mornings!

Do you throw a fit every morning when you hear the dreaded alarm, pulling the covers over your head hoping if you just ignore it will go away? 

Don’t worry, if you said yes I would have too if someone asked me this questions just a few short years ago!

Even though I found my love with mornings, I still felt as though something was missing. I needed something more.

I’ve always admired people who have a morning routine. This was something I aspired to have as well. Yes, I get up at the wee hours of the morning and go to the gym before heading to class but I wanted something more. I wanted time to not only take care of my body, but my mind and soul as well!

I uncovered tons of different routines, but something just didn’t fit.

They were other people’s routine, their discoveries. I needed to discover my own!

So, there I was. On another self-discovery adventure.

I did come across one morning routine which I really enjoyed. I took the concept and some of its elements tweaking it to fit my own needs!

If you are just beginning your journey to becoming a morning person, finding a routine to try is a great starting place. It provides you with structure and accountability, until you discover more about yourself and what your needs are.

How we start our mornings plays a huge role in determining the quality of our day, our work and our life! This is why creating a meaningful morning routine became so important to me!

I’ve always been good about taking care of my body physically, having a solid and consistent gym routine each morning. Though, when it came to my mind and soul, it was very much neglected. This inspired me to create a morning routine, based around these two aspects of my life.

With school, life and everything in between I have drifted away from faith. Finding myself more often than not lost in my thoughts and worried about everything. I needed to ground my mind and soul again!

So I thought, why not create a morning routine based around faith? Designating time each morning to touch base with my mind and soul, while rebuilding my faith.

So, I did exactly that. I was recommended an app, The Bible App by a close friend of mine. This was exactly what I needed! This app offers a variety of guided plans to suit any need in your life; from forgiveness to trust to love. Whatever you are lacking in life, this app can help you find it! For me, I explored a ‘beginner’ plan with hopes to get me in touch with my inner faith again.

Each morning, I wake up just a little earlier before my gym routine and I designate this time to a daily devotional and reading in my plan on The Bible app. It has truly helped me to not only discover and develop my faith again, but begin to heal my mind and soul from the neglect I had given them for so long!

Starting my morning with these readings has given me the opportunity to get in touch with my inner being. It took my mind away from self-indulgent distractions and stresses of life and on to my own purpose and promises.

I train at the gym to strengthen my body, I like to think of these devotions in the morning as exercises strengthening my mind and soul.

Whatever your needs my be, whether it be taking care of your body, mind or soul there is something out there for everyone.

What better way to start your day then with a healed body, mind and soul? Preparing you to tackle each day with confidence!

It may not be easy at times, and you’ll want to stay bundled in your warm bed, but the feeling you receive after giving your body the love and care it desires is unmatched!

Even if you’ve never been a morning person, you can beat the snooze button! Creating a beautiful morning full of self-care!`

  1. Sometimes its so draining for me to get up in the morning. I wish I was that person who love mornings, and Ill wake and hit the gym and go to work afterwards. I’ve tried that routine and somewhere down the road I stopped doing that. I wish I was that get up and go person. But I’m not I need a minute to actually get up UP. I guess that’s where prayer comes in. Great blog really made me think. #wishiwasamorningperson

  2. I’ve been making a point to meditate in the morning or at least take a few minutes to reflect on my goals and it really does make a big difference. I’m glad I came across your post because recently I’ve been trying to go on a more spiritual path. I’ve never been a deeply religious person so it’s hard to know where to start, and I thought, “I wish there was an app for this!” and then I read your post! Perfect timing 🙂

    1. Oh wow, I am so happy you found it and my post was able to help you! I as well have never been much of a religious person, so beginning the spiritual path was a little scary not knowing which way to go! I hope you find this app helpful in your spiritual journey!
