Why I Started My Blog

Holy cow! I can not believe today is the first day of December! Time truly does fly when you’re having fun!

December marks the one year anniversary of Bringing Back Becca! I’m still in awe that a full year has gone by since Bringing Back Becca was officially launched! After one year on the journey of blogging, I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you all why I decided to start Bringing Back Becca.

Starting a blog had always been one of those thing I said I wanted to do. What I would write about I had no idea, but it was on my bucket list! But similar to many other things , that’s all it was; a dream. I would keep telling myself I’m going to do it, today will be the day. Then I would get lost in my own thoughts, talking my self out of the idea, immediately shying away.

Writing has never been a strong point in my life, and this was a major deterring factor for me. I follow a collection of various bloggers and their writing is impeccable. I always told myself, “I could never be as good as a writer as them“. I had a great deal of thoughts I wanted to share with the world, but I did not know to transform them into understandable sentences! Fear of failure and the judgement of others, I turned away from the dream of starting a blog.

It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom in life, that I finally had the guts to start blogging!

This time last year I was in a genuinely bad place in life. I was an object moving through each and every day. Not living, experiencing life the way a 21 year-old girl should! I was lost. One day I realized, I could not live this way anymore. We are only given one life to live, and I was letting days slip by right in front of me.

I did not want to feel lost anymore. I wanted to live, enjoying every moment life was giving me!

So I started my journey of self-discovery. I was off on an adventure, finding the true Becca digging deeper into my own soul.

This is where the name came in. I was on a journey to bring back Becca!

I’ve always enjoyed giving advice and helping others reach their goals. That is why I chose the career path of physical therapy. Why I read numerous self-help books. Why I started my blog.  I wanted to share my experiences throughout my journey of discovering who I truly was and learning to live again with the world! In hopes of touching other people, helping them discover themselves on their journey!

I was still afraid of my writing abilities, but I wasn’t going to let this stop me from sharing my journey. Instead, I took it as a learning opportunity! No I may not be the next New York Times Bestseller, but starting and having my blog allowed me to grow and become a stronger writer.

Sharing my experiences wasn’t always easy either. You’re in a state of vulnerability when you put yourself out there in the world. But, I knew I wasn’t alone on my journey and there were many people going through the exact some situations I was and I never knew who my words would touch and help.

Starting my blog allowed me to grow as a person in countless ways, and for that I couldn’t ask for anything more.

I have no hopes to reach thousands of viewers and followers or turn my blog into a living; as long as I was able to make a difference in just one persons life, then my goal was accomplished!

This year has been full of so many memories and opportunities! I hope you continue to join me on my journey on Bringing Back Becca and see what more life has offer!

  1. Love this so much! I started writing from a similar place of I had nothing to lose, but only possibilities of growing and learning vulnerability to help others going through the same thing. Keep it up! ❤️

  2. Happy One Year anniversary. I agree with you about blogging is a great way of keeping an online journal and a way to achieve personal growth. Don’t overthink your writing, your writing is fine and your post is readable. Blog on!
