So this post is kind of personal post that touches a special place in my heart, but was something I deeply wanted to share with you all!
On December 7th. 1985 my wonderful loving parents got married! 33 years later they are still happily married.
With the current divorce rate nearly 50%, it can be a rare occurrence to find a couple still together in love, much like my parents. That is why I like to think I am incredibly lucky to be blessed with two wonderful loving people I get to call my parents.
I have been blessed with so many wonderful things in my life but the one which stands above all is family.
My family is my foundation. I could not be where I am today if it wasn’t for all their love and support. They’re my best friends, my cheerleaders, my adventure team for life.
Being far away from home while at school is by no means easy. There are countless nights I wish I could be sitting on the couch at home with my family than surrounded by textbooks neck deep in studying. We all come from different home lives, but when listening to my peers talk about their family situations, it truly opens my eyes into how lucky I am to have two parents who love me unconditionally and whom I can call my best friends!
You’ll probably catch the majority of 22 year-old college students at the bar on a Friday night, but not me. I’d much rather spend the night Face-timing with my family. Now some people may place judgments on me for this, but I have no shame in choosing to hang out with my family.
My parents deserve the biggest thank you in the world! That is why I wanted to dedicate this post to them. They are truly amazing people who deserve a little appreciation on their special day, because finding two people who love each other as much as my parents do for 33 years, is a rare and special find!
There is no end to the list of things my parents have taught me in life, but the one which means the most is the power of love.
They’ve showed me what it means to truly love another human in this world. Whether that be the love they show between one another or the love they have given me. They’ve showed me life is about loving one another; friend, family, whoever. No matter the situation, it is always important to radiate your love and kindness to the people around you.
Without my parents’ love I would not be the person I am today, and for that I will be forever grateful. Happy 33 Year Anniversary to the best parents a daughter could ask for and showing me what love is!
We only have one life to live, why not chose to love one another?
